Finally

Whew, hey all, my space bar isn't working well so this is difficult and frustrating but oh well.

ok, so life's been tough and with no internet (till now), and nobody familiar around me i've really been struggling. I'm learining that I've really relied on my parents faith to support and defend my own and now that I'm so far away I am re-learning what I believe. ugh pain is soo good in such a frustrating way...

I'm such a hypocrite loser that I worry about my heart and where it should be. I want actually find a group of broken/lost people that I can fit into and care about and be cared about but it seems so distant from the life I have in Utah.

Ok, so I'm living at a "mountain top" experience as far as the christians I KNow would put it, and it's really hard because I know that this is what I've really wanted in the past but I"m now seeing that it's not healthy for me (in large doses) and I need to find that niche to become a servant.

P.S. if you haven't already noticed this is a sporadic blog (i'm on a computer at a college campus after a bible study... it took us hours to get here)

lastly, I"m learning that I'm in a leaning stage of life (the first 25 years ish) and I"m coming into an acceptance of being confused as hell for the next six years...

blast! I apologize for not being overly emotionally touching and prophetically inspiring, Honestly it's for the better.

P.P.S For all of you in the college group reading this I miss you guys and have some ideas as to feeding hobo's and reading a book together... and hey, chase I'm riding a bike I fixed up about sixteen miles a week through the hills of virginia and lifting ton's of crap so I'ma be ready for rugby next year... ok out.

Pre-Trip

Hey all this is your exclusive Travis information center for the summer of 08 so stay tuned.

So far I'm about five hours away from lift off and I'm packed and ready to go.

For those of you just tuning in to the program I am headed over to a ropes course in Headwaters Virginia to work as a camp counselor for the summer. I'm leaving today May 2nd, and getting back august 9th. While there I'm pretty sure that I'll be leading bible studies, pushing kids off of high places (with the required safety harnesses of course) and doing camp maintainence. I'll be keeping all of you in tune with whatever's happening in my life and how God's working with where I'm at.

Seeing as this is my first post I'll try and keep it short but I have to tell the story of how I got this job in the first place and then I'm done.

ok, here goes.

whilst in Africa (see previous blog) I met a cool guy named Jim Driscoll who I poured my heart out too. He referred me to this camp and I applied. A few weeks later I received an email saying that they were going to talk to my references and contact me again. A few weeks later I got a call from the camp director who was apparently a really good friend of Jim. He told me that he really like what he'd heard from Jim and that I was invited to come out for a week test run some time to see if I clicked with the camp. I was planning on going for spring break when I received another call from the camp director who asked me if I knew Lisa Mims. She had also been in Africa with me so I confirmed the connection. Ronnie (the camp director) then told me that he had just had dinner with Lisa's family the night before and had been talking about potential camp candidates and my name came up and she recognized it.
Ronnie then said, "You know what Travis, just come out when you're ready... this is a God thing and I'm excited to have you with us this summer." and that's that.

ok. Talk to you all later.
